PIN MILLING

Mechanism:

Material is fed into a grinding chamber where a spinning disk with varying size pins create a torturous flow path. Particles are fractured through direct impact or from sheer forces against stator/fixed chamber surfaces leading to size reduction. Pin design and rotational speed of the disk can be varied to influence the size of the particles created.

Attributes
  • Preferred and most economical choice when distributions of 100-400 hundred microns is acceptable.
  • Ideal for declumping and creating free flowing powder output
  • Ideal for hard difficult to grind materials such as resins used in pharmaceutical processing, polymeric excipients, etc.
